A giant of baseball both on and off the field, Hank Aaron (1934-2021) rose from humble beginnings in Mobile, Alabama, to rewrite the baseball record books while prevailing in the face of racism. As he approached Babe Ruth's record 714 home runs, he was subjected to threatening violence against himself and his family. Yet on April 8, 1974, in front of a sellout crowd in Atlanta, Aaron hit his 715th career home run, taking the torch from Jackie Robinson and continuing to be a trailblazing inspiration to others.
