Muhammad Ali (born January 17, 1942, Louisville, Kentucky, U.S.-died June 3, 2016, Scottsdale, Arizona) was considered one of the greatest boxers in history. He was the first fighter to win the world heavyweight championship on three separate occasions; he successfully defended this title 19 times.
Ali was a member of the inaugural class of the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1990, and in 2005 he was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
