The Legendary Apollo Theater

As the legendary Apollo Theater, where amateurs become stars and pros become legends, in the Harlem neighborhood of Upper Manhattan in New York City marks 90 years of music, talent, and history, the venue is celebrating a prestigious Kennedy Center honor. It is the first institution ather than a person or group, to receive the accolade. Queen Latifah, who received a Kennedy Center Honor in 2023, hosted the 47th annual national celebration of the arts which was televised on December 22, 2024. President and CEO of the Apollo, Michelle Ebanks, represented the iconic American institution which has been paramount in launching Black artists.
